Cheerio was rescued from a high kill shelter before being euthanized for aggression towards people. The poor thing was just terrified being in a strange place, not aggressive. Once he was out of the shelter, his whole temperament changed. He’s an amazing little boy and loves everybody!!!! Great with other dogs, kids, adults. Very tolerant with little kids as well. He likes cats more than they seem to like him. Cheerio loves playing, loves his toys, is a sucker for belly rubs, treats and spending time outside in the sun. Like many dogs, he’s not a big fan of bad weather. He likes cozy blankets to snuggle with at bedtime. He is a terrier breed so he does get excited over birds and squirrels and likes to bark at them and occasionally to chase them away. I would not recommend a home close to traffic and a fenced in yard would be best. He is very obedient and wants to please people. He seems to prefer playing with big dogs over little dogs but still loves everyone.
Although Cheerio has long hair, he is not a shedder but will still need occasional grooming throughout his life. Cheerio is crate trained, but I am still working with him to teach him not to hike. A dedicated foster or adopter who could work with him consistently would be great. He’s a very fast learner!!! He’s a great boy with a huge personality. Would be great for a family, a couple, or a single person. Can be an only dog but would do great with another dog too. He enjoys swimming in kiddie pools to cool off as well.
